About Tooth-Colored Fillings
One of the most common conditions that develops in patients are cavities, which can sometimes lead to tooth decay as well. Cavities can leave teeth with a hollow space in their center, and tooth decay can also split the tooth. Our Beachwood Dental office offers high-end tooth-colored fillings made of a composite resin material that looks natural and fills in the space left by the cavity or decay. Patients can also benefit from tooth-colored fillings if they have chipped, worn down, or cracked teeth.
The composite resin allows for a natural, realistic looking result that not only restores the strength of the tooth, but also returns the tooth back to its original cosmetic state. We encourage our patients to visit our Los Alamitos, CA office to learn more about the benefits of tooth-colored fillings and the simple steps it takes for their health and cosmetic appearance to be restored.
"Anyone who is hesitant about these five stars review, HAVE NO FEAR. I would 10/10 recommend this clinic to ANYONE who asks (or doesn't). I was in town for my wedding and I visited my dentist in the area to get my final Invisalign check/retainers. I also wanted to straighten out my front tooth because it had chipped in the Invisalign process since I used to bite my nails. It made me super self conscious especially since I was going to be taking a ton of photos for my wedding this weekend and it had been bothering me since I got my attachments taken off. I had asked my dental clinic if they could even it out, but the dentist was not in so they weren't able to do anything for me... I was definitely 110% freaking out and so so sad. My dental office referred me to Beachwood Dental and Dr. Todd answered the phone. He so willingly accepted me last minute and really tried to work around my hectic schedule. I was late since I was running last minute errands and didn't expect them to take me so quickly (I called Thursday early afternoon, they told me to come in later that afternoon!). They were still able to fit me in with such warm attitudes and smiles. Dr. Todd, Stacy, and everyone in the office were so lovely, really (& I definitely don't say that lightly). They were able to fix me up (I couldn't even tell the difference!!!) and sent me on my way. I am forever thankful to this awesome team and appreciate you all (even if Dr. Todd is a USC fan...GO BRUINS). Thank you, Beachwood Dental!!!!"- H.S. / Yelp / Sep 20, 2018

What to Expect
A tooth-colored filling can be performed in our Los Alamitos dentist's office with the patient under local anesthesia for any pain and discomfort. Once the patient is prepared, our dentist can use a drill to carefully remove the decayed area of the enamel. Then, our dentist will etch the tooth with an acid gel to help bond the tooth-colored filling when it is placed. The resin is applied and hardened with a special light. Our dentist will continue to apply layers of resin and harden them with the light until the tooth is strong and even. Any excess resin can be polished and smoothed with the drill.
Immediately after the filling is placed and dried, our dentist will finish and polish the tooth for smooth edges. Once the anesthesia wears off, patients may notice sensitivity to heat, cold, sweat, pressure, and more. This sensitivity is only temporary and should not last more than 1 – 2 weeks. Patients should continue a good home oral care routine, including brushing and flossing, in addition to regular dental exams and cleanings. Our dentist will monitor the condition of the filling at each visit and help determine when they need a replacement.
